Identify Your Calling. It’s Not as Difficult as You Think!
We made it! 2020 is here and we are a little past the halfway mark of the first month! Celebrate!!! So how are you doing with your goals, your resolutions, your word of the year? Did you set any of those things? Or are you still trying to figure it all out?
I get it, the beginning of such a powerful new year can be equally exciting and daunting. The excitement in the air is palpable, yet, there’s so much pressure to set yourself up with all kinds of new goals and resolutions it can be extremely overwhelming. Add to that the post Holiday Blues and whew… “Netflix and Chill” here I come! And let’s be honest, most of us don’t even know what it is exactly we want much less have the faintest clue as to “how” to make it all happen.
Every day I work with my clients to bring the ideas they have in their minds out into the world. And the first thing we do is get in touch with their Vision for their future.
What was that flash of a picture that crossed their minds that made them
Stop and Think. . .
“Huh, that was quite an image. I’d really like to be/do/have that in my life. I wonder how to make it happen?”
Most people who have had that thought brush it aside and quickly revert back to the everyday confines and comforts of life as they know it. Doing everything they can to check all the boxes of societal expectations, school, career, marriage, family, family obligations, travel, saving enough to retire, and the end goal being… safely reaching their death.
Woah!! That was morbid!
On the other hand though… live the THE BOLD, those who STEP UP! They SPEAK UP! And they STEP INTO what it would feel like to go after that fleeting idea that flashed across their minds. They don’t back down and they stop at nothing to get to the place where those IDEAS BECOME REALITY.
This is what they know and realize that many do not… God/Higher Power/Source/Universe/Whatever it is you call it… didn’t give you that idea so you could push it to the side and go back to your status quo. Source (let’s use that for now) gave YOU that IDEA because only YOU can bring it fruition!
So what are you waiting for? Step UP and Step Into your calling. 2020 is YOUR YEAR! And if you need a few tips on just how to do that, here you go…
Get Quiet
Spend some time alone in the quiet. Go outside and take a walk or hike in nature. Sit in your favorite chair, take a few deep, cleansing breaths and allow your mind to settle. Give yourself the gift of time and allow yourself to get quiet and just listen to the stirrings in your heart.
Journal
Take out a blank piece of paper or open that journal you’ve had sitting in your office for a year and start writing. There is something magical about putting pen to paper and allowing the thoughts and ideas to flow. If you are stuck, try starting with 3-5 things you are grateful for and then allow yourself to flow from there.
Create a Vision Page
Grab a few of your favorite magazines, a sheet of paper, glue, and some scissors. Start cutting out any image or phrase that speaks to you and glue them on your paper. Be open to what you are drawn to and don’t judge why you are pulling certain images. Once you’re done leave it for a short time and come back to identify themes you see.
Yes, the market is noisy, and yes, there are many others out there who may be doing what you are called to STEP UP and do, yet that’s just the confirmation you need that you are doing the right thing and the world needs YOU to bring this Idea to life in the way only you know how to do it!
